Procrastination is something that many people will find themselves doing at some point in their lives. Maybe you’re studying for an important test, or you’re just struggling to focus on your work, it can be hard keeping your concentration during those times. Keeping focused on an activity when you’d rather be doing something else is tough, so we have found five ways to help keep those concentration levels up.

Blueberries contain antioxidants which help to stimulate blood flow and oxygen to the brain. This will help keep your mind active but focused on the task at hand. These little blue berries have been shown to help boost against heart disease, dementia, and cancer.
A long-term approach
While it is nice to be able to have a quick fix when it comes to boosting your concentration, you aren’t going to be able to rely on it forever. Taking an approach for the long-term is ideal because it will make sure you are able to concentrate without the aid of something stimulating.
One of the most important things to do to boost your concentration is to rest well. Making sure you get enough time to recharge your batteries will ensure you remain focused because tiredness is one of the main reasons why we struggle to focus. Changing your lifestyle to exercise more will also help your concentration levels. If our bodies are well, then we are more likely to be able to concentrate with greater effect. Exercising at least three times a week will help to maintain a healthy mind and body.
If you are struggling to stay on track give the five more principle a go. If you begin to lose focus on the task you are performing tell yourself to do five more. For instance, if you are doing math homework and just can’t look at your book anymore, tell yourself to do five more problems, then you can take a break. If you are reading, tell yourself to read five more pages or if you are working do five more minutes. Finding it within yourself to squeeze out five more of what you are doing will make sure you get better results and over time you will rely on the method less and less.
Get some air
If you’ve been working away for hours, you’re likely in need of a break. Working for so long without a break will leave your mind a bit blunt, and you’ll struggle to work efficiently. It is important to have regular breaks to allow your mind to think about something else for a while, or even better, nothing. Finding a green park to stroll around will help your attention span to refresh. The quiet nature and better air quality will feel like you’ve kickstarted your brain.
Drink more water
It has been discovered that even a mild form of dehydration can result in a drop of concentration. Making sure we stay hydrated is beneficial to both our concentration levels and our general well-being. Making sure you’re taking in enough water will keep your brain working at an optimal level for as long as possible. If you are finding your concentration waning that is a good sign you need to fill up a glass of the clear stuff and rehydrate yourself.
Keeping focused with so many distractions around is hard, but thankfully there are a few things we can do to help us through those times. These five techniques will help you improve your concentration both in the short-term and long-term.
